This Month's featured Blues Singer
Charles Brown born 13 September 1922 died 21 January 1999. He was
inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame later in 1999. He wrote one of
the best Christmas songs I have ever had the privilege of hearing..."Please
Come Home For Christmas"
He was born in Texas City, Texas and was signed to his first label in 1945.
He worked with some of the BEST singers of his time including Nat 'King'
Cole, Floyd Dixon, and Ray Charles. In the 1990's before he died he went
on tour with Bonnie Raitt.
He won several Grammys and received the National Endowment for the
Arts' National Heritage Fellowship as well as the coveted W.C. Handy
Award.
I put a photo of Charles Brown in the Photo album section.
